The 5th Floor movement started in 2001 by two students from the Fine Arts Department of the Academy of Arts located in Gyumri, the second largest city in the Republic of Armenia. In 2006, the first meeting of our members took place. Furthermore, we started working on the mission statement of the „5th Floor“. Hence, the year 2006 became the official year of the establishment of this informal cultural group.
The "5th Floor" cultural group has brought together individuals and artists who were concerned with the non-harmonic issues of art that were similar to the ones present in the Soviet times. Discussions, workshops, exhibitions, and performances are being organized and held at the various studios of the "5th Floor" artists.


Our objectives are to create the necessary conditions to discover the mental and intellectual abilities of young people, their development, and to support the terretorial peace; to have a society aware of the contemporary stream of art by making a possible atmosphere where one can create and express himself freely. To use art as a therapy: by using it in social and psychological spheres and support the creation of healthy creative environment in Armenia; to support the multicultural dialogue within and outside the country; for the cooperation of different nations, religious and ethnic groups, and develop professional skills; to support the young artists to exchange educational projects of Armenian and foreign educational institutions.
