Following its 2023 premiere, this year's "We, the Artists" march will take place on Sept. 18 from Times Square to the UN headquarters & include music, puppeteers and colorful artwork
This was last year's call to action...
Join us for a historic, "We, the Artists" March kicking off on September 16th in Times Square and meeting up with our friends and allies at the Dag Hammarskjold Plaza!
WHY ARE WE MARCHING?
✨ To advocate for meaningful representation in decision making spaces including the United Nations;
✨ To change the narrative about #artists and #storytellers as pure "entertainers" and instead be regonized and appreciated as incredible creative thinkers and problem solvers (and legitimate stakeholders in the UN/NGO sector);
✨ To demand a change against harmful practicies such as ongoing tokenization, lack of input on policies that affect us, unpaid labor, violation of intellectual property rights, poor leadership appointments in the #arts and #culture sector;
✨ To promote artist-led initiatives and campaigns (as we know how to best run entertainment and cultural events and campaigns to inspire action);
✨ To ensure respect for diversity and inclusion in the arts, ensuring working class BIPOC and global south artists from the informal sector are invited and recognized;
✨ And of course, to show solidarity with other stakeholders in the #sustainability movement including #youth, #women, #LGBTQIA, #indigenouspeoples and more!
Please join us! We are looking for partners, marchers, and more!
* Speakers, performers and partners announced on a rolling basis!*
