Bei Fragen, Anregungen etc. schreibt mir gerne eine Mail: thorsten.mueller@sdw.de Call for participation - "European Summer School - Creating Forest Experiences" from 9th to 13th July 2018 Do you want to meet people from all over Europe? Do you want to raise your voice as the future generation? Do you want to implement your own forest project? The Association for the Protection of the German Forest ("Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald", SDW) invites you to a five day Summer School at the Freusburg from the 9th to 13th July 2018. This old castle was built around 1100 AD and is situated in the region Westerwald in western Germany. The aim of the event is that you as participants develop your own youth forest projects which we will implement together after the Summer School. Furthermore, you can exchange ideas and experiences with around 60 young adults (18 to 22 years old) from all over Europe regarding forests and their future. We will talk about the function of forests in our eco-system, for a sustainable development and for recreational activities. Different workshops from leading experts will give you an overview of sustainable forestry as well as economic, ecological and social perspectives on forests. The Summer School should build the foundation for a European Youth Forest Network which you can use for networking and the development of future, transnational projects. Moreover, you will have the opportunity to formulate demands to German politicians which will be presented to them during the German Forest Days ("Deutsche Waldtage") from 13th to 14th September 2018 in Berlin. • Imke Eichelberg Survey: Strengthening European Social Movement EcologyHello friends, We're reaching out to seek your input into the design and development of a new phase of work with European social movements. We know that to build powerful and effective movements, we need spaces to learn from each other’s struggles. At the Ulex Project, we’re expanding our successful Ecology of Social Movements training to create a new activist learning initiative. It aims to create a container for activists to engage in deep action-learning practice within the landscape of diverse struggles and movement building. To help us design that new space, this survey asks movement organisers, activist trainers, and others involved in popular struggles across Europe, to help us think about the kind of training and support movements most need today. The survey forms part of a community of inquiry process running through the winter. The link to the survey is here and we would greatly appreciate it if you would share it with your networks to help us get the word out there. Here's a suggested tweet: "How do we build stronger and more effective European Social Movements? The @UlexProject are designing and developing a new training phase of their work and seeking input and suggestions from movement leaders, activsts and organisers. Find our more: https://form.jotform.com/202953820908055" At this crucial time for our social movements, the need for well-informed strategies and spaces for learning couldn't be more important, and we're excited to build on the work so far with your input and suggestions. The deadline for the survey is 23rd November 2020.

Von https://edgeryders.eu/t/now-hiring-german-community-manager/12248 : Populist Rebellion in 21st-century Central and Eastern Europe (POPREBEL) is an EC Horizon 2020 project seeking to explain the rise of populism/illiberalism in Central and Eastern Europe and to find ways to resist populist and illiberal rhetoric and action. We are focused on understanding people’s own perspectives on these issues to inform long-term strategies and policies. We currently convene a set of four large online conversation spaces in Polish, Czech, Serbian and English, where people discuss these issues and on which Edgeryders performs continuous ethnographic analysis. This analysis will then be used by the POPREBEL consortium and the EC in their policy initiatives. We will soon be adding a German-language conversation space and are thus looking to hire a German-speaking online community manager to collaborate with us on this project. The project runs for three years in total but this work will run for approximately 21 months, starting in February 2020, on a part-time basis (about 20% of your time or about 8 hrs/week). The salary is EUR 35/hr. Requirements: Experience desirable, but not strictly necessary if you are an experienced participant in online communities. Fluent in German and English. Able to work part-time without set hours, during the day or night, with strong time-management skills. Good writing skills. Able to advance a conversation by interacting constructively with others. You need to be open, accepting, tolerant and a good listener. At the same time, you need to be able to maintain civil discussions and manage conflicts when emotions run high. Passionate and reasonably knowledgeable about the subject matter of POPREBEL’s goals. A good collaborator, who works well with a team and takes direction from management when needed. Your professional and personal network includes people involved in social activism. Tasks: Participate in, moderate and be responsible for ongoing online conversations about the rise of populism and illiberalism and related issues. Add to conversations by providing links to reference material, articles and papers when appropriate. Maintain a lively and civil atmosphere. Mediate conflicts when necessary. Organise the topics to minimise clutter. Help other participants with the platform when they need or request it. Assist in outreach efforts that include scheduled group video calls and attending local live NGI events organised by Edgeryders. Workplace: You can do the work online, from wherever you are, but you may be requested to participate in one or more physical meetings. And there will be a required two-day training session in Brussels. Your travel expenses for these meetings will be covered. We coordinate and communicate through the Edgeryders platform. How to apply: Study the POPREBEL website (https://populism-europe.com/poprebel 4), so you understand the project and its scope. Sign up with an account on: https://communities.edgeryders.eu 1 Post a reply to this topic below [Now hiring: German community manager] and tell us why you are motivated to join the team, about your interests and current work, or any life story you think is meaningful. When you write it, consider the following questions: What experiences have you had that are most related to POPREBEL? What stories can you share? Does your own network of colleagues and friends discuss issues relating to the rise of populism/illiberalism? Are any of them involved in social activism related to these issues? Include a link or reference to your CV (preferably online). Applications will be reviewed as they are received until the opening is filled.

  • Alona Karavai Call for Participation in the Forum “UkraineLab: Communities Development and Local Initiatives in (Post-) Crisis Regions” (April 19-22, Kramatorsk-Slovyansk, Ukraine)Everything will be good. It is the phrase that is believed in and ascertained as a fact by many people who – individually or jointly – are taking steps towards the long-awaited “Good”. The specific actions made by specific people unite our country into one body where success and breakthroughs in some spots inspire and give rise to changes far beyond these locations. We observe the increasing number of people for whom for various reasons it does not matter where to stay in the country, because it makes no difference to them where they will improve Ukrainian reality. We also see that the distance between people and regions is reduced with the help of the Internet and the value of interaction. Nevertheless, there is a gap between cultural and economic development, between the level of open-mindedness and responsibility for the environment in some places, cities and regions of our country. Today there is a lack of quality open platforms for communication and dialogue between the representatives of different sectors of civil society and culture. The network of UkraineLab with their forums and mobility program aims to create such platforms. It will create physical platform – for a few days of forum as well as virtual platform – with the help of network self-organization made by participants and mobility between them. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts – this quote by Aristotle is the aim of the test conducted by the program UkraineLab. We invite change agents, who are willing to work on the issues of community development and local development, to work together. During the program last year we realized that we need to make the greater practical impact on the local communities, where the forums take place, as well as in other cities, towns and villages which are not very popular, but have great potential for development. We have decided to focus on the topic “Community Development and Local Initiatives” in order to work together actively on effective tools of community development, to share our experience and to see how we must act to meet current challenges. We are confident that Kramatorsk and Slovyansk – the cities which will host a forum – offer good ground for urgent ideas and long-term initiatives. As a part of the April forum, we invite you to be theoretically and practically engaged at the following thematic blocks: Community Development through Education: Alternative Education.
